Party Time In Norway

May is party time in Norway!

For those being confirmed, there is usually a big family party (and according to our local newspaper, gifts averaging 4000 pounds / $6000!). Those in their final school year (known as russ) party (mostly in more destructive ways) – in lieu of revision. Today is Easter day in the Orthodox church, so all our Eritrean / Ethiopian friends are having a party (we were invited, but sadly had to pass, as we had services to play for). And then on the 17th of May the whole nation celebrates constitution day.

And the weather has been fantastic. In the sun on our veranda the temperature stayed at 30C (that’s 86f) most of the afternoon – that’s at least 10 degrees warmer than Ruth got in subtropical South Carolina!
